| Historically, the date for 24-Hour Comics Day was set by the ComicsPRO Board of Directors and announced in February each year.
In 2013, the ComicsPRO Board of Directors decided to use a standard day for 24HCD: the first Saturday in October. Each year, 24-Hour Comics Day will be the first Saturday in October. Registration for the event usually goes live in June. |

| ComicsPRO, a trade association of comic book retailers, provides administration for 24-Hour Comics Day. ComicsPRO began administering 24-Hour Comics Day in 2008. 24-Hour Comic Book Day is a volunteer-run event.
