Hi Kids!
Well past the halfway point, and folks are still plugging away…
John and Austin are collaborating.
Here’s Jeff’s PART TWO: Moonlit Showdown w/Redneck Zombies
And then there’s Talon’s Benjamin Franklin robot (note his face is stitched on) with the Gatling gun arm…
Can’t wait to see what that’s all about… Found this interesting Ben Franklin quote that might just apply: “Three can keep a secret, if two of them are dead”.
Be Well,

Hi Kids!
So this happened…
At around midnight, this superhero whose mild mannered alter ego is Avory Gonzales, swooped in and bestowed this bounty of Krispy Kreme Wonder upon us and vanished before I could recover enough to snap his picture. Oddly enough, I have been thinking about Krispy Kremes (warm Krispy Kremes, which these were) for a couple of weeks now but holding fast, and then this happens. Let me tell you, they were delicious!
And from our undisclosed location:
I’m curious about “Coconut vs Soap”, aren’t you?
Amanda is getting all arty on us, using watercolors and stuff…
That’s a fabric book she’s working in. Very fancy…
And on the latest sweep of the room:
I have to say I am impressed by all the different styles and techniques folks are using, aren’t you?
And it’s gotten so quiet…
Be Well,
Your pal,
Chuck
Hi Kids!
Hard to believe it’s been 10 hours, eh? Of course, to you it hasn’t been any time at all because the 24 Hour Comic Day website has been down since yesterday. Nonetheless, I am diligently posting away so that when the site does come back up, you’ll be able to read this and maybe feel a part of the experience that is 24 Hour Comic Day.
So we had another round of raffle drawings and these folks (and I) won some cool stuff.
Julie won this Ben Girven original t-shirt depicting Black Widow and Hawkeye as Lucy and Linus.
John, Talon, and I won a $10 Lobo Anime and Comics gift certificate.
While Rosie won an All the Growing Things trade paperback from Typod Mary http://typodmary.com/ and graciously accepted Brian’s $10 Lobo Anime and Comics gift certificate, as he was out of the room at the time.
While Mike, Nathan, and Jeff toil away at their projects at our satellite facility, the previously undisclosed location.
And so it goes…
Be Well,
Your pal,
Chuck
Hi Kids!
Our old friend Jim Lynch from Wonderfunders http://www.wonderfunders.com/ dropped by to shower us with gifts.
He bought a $50 gift certificate from Kaboom Test Labs and—
Eloy won!
Then Jim left to go get some more prizes. He returned with 5, count `em 5, $10 gift certificates to URBAN Hot Dog, right next door to Kaboom Test Labs. How convenient!
We did a rapid fire drawing and here are the results:
Carsten, Sarah, Nathan, Aliina, and Ben!
Then, Jim left yet again and returned with 3 $20 bills, which were promptly won by Austin, Stephen, and Jesse!
And then, more stuff happened, but more of that next hour.
Be Well,
Your pal,
Chuck
Hi Kids!
Here’s Ben showing Andy how easy it is to ink with the cintiq and Adobe Photoshop. If I were an artist (which I am, by no stretch of the imagination), and I had a coupla thousand bucks, I would definitely get one!
We had another raffle and afterward, I realized that we have not been posting pictures of the winners like we did in the past, so here they are. After all, that’s all part of the drama and pathos that IS 24 Hour Comic Day:
Here’s Garrad with his copy of “The Salmonella Chronicles”.
Sarah and Julie both won gift certificates from Big Adventure Comics https://www.facebook.com/bigadventurecomics in Santa Fe.
Tristan won a Lobo Anime and Comics gift certificate.
Made another trip around the floor and here’s how things are going…
That’s it for now kids.
Be well,
Your pal,
Chuck
Hi Kids!
Sometime during Hour 3, Andy Kuhn, world famous artist (Google him) dropped by. He’s been a friend and supporter of 7000 BC longer than I have. He checked out Ben Girven’s cintiq drawing tablet. Andy’s always been a pen, ink, and paper kind of guy, but he seems to be very interested. Ben told me that he increased his productivity tremendously since he invested in the cintiq, and I’ve heard that from other artists, too.
Jeff (that’s Jeff behind Andy) just told me that we have 26 people creating comics. Good turnout!
And now…
PROGRESS!
Be Well,
Your pal,
Chuck
Hi Kids!
And we’re OFF!
Here’s the 21st Century Electronics Corner.
And here’s the rest of the happy revelers.
I’ll be running around taking pictures of all the creativity and getting them to you as soon as I can.
Ben has posted a U-Stream video (with audio) that will be running for the entire 24 hours, so if you just don’t have enough to do, you can watch us here:
We’ve some more entrants.
None of this would be possible without the generosity of our sponsors:
Kaboom Test Labs, who gave us a place to sweat (to quote Deep Purple in “Smoke on the Water”…) check them out here!
Jason’s Deli, who provided us with delicious sandwiches, chips, and pickles to fuel our quest.
There are more, but I just realized that we are an hour in and I haven’t posted yet!
Back soon with hour 2…
Be Well,
Your pal,
Chuck
